A Swedish national wanted in connection with an alleged cyber fraud case in Sweden has been arrested on the Thai island of Koh Samui, according to the Bangkok Post.

Thai immigration police arrested the man following a request from Swedish authorities. He is suspected of involvement in a fraud scheme in which remote-access software was allegedly used to steal more than six million Swedish kronor.

The case reportedly involves AnyDesk, a software application that allows users to access computers remotely. Such tools can be used legitimately but may also be exploited by criminals to gain access to victims’ devices and financial information.

The man is being held pending extradition proceedings, according to the report.

The arrest highlights cooperation between Thai and Swedish authorities in cases involving alleged financial crime across national borders. Thailand is home to a substantial international expatriate community, including Swedish residents and visitors.

The allegations against the man have not been established as facts in court. Further details about the charges and the extradition process have not been confirmed in this report.
